As a coach, I am guided by your goals and your motivations. My style is collaborative rather than directive, asking lots of questions as together we uncover blocks, envision the results you want, create a strategy for moving forward, and take action. I'm not going to tell you what to do, but together we'll work to lay a foundation for the progress you want. Along the way, I'll help you reflect on your journey and give you accountability (the tough love) and encouragement.
I often draw on my experience as a writer and athlete in my work as a coach. I love a good metaphor and use them as tools to help clients explore and understand their experiences. I take creative approaches with my clients, including visualization, storyboarding, revising self-talk, and writing exercises as I help them to create the changes they strive for.
A session usually starts with a check-in and discussion of how things have been going for you. We'll then launch into whatever you find most important, setting an intention for the session and having the open conversation that helps you work toward your goals.

Through an ongoing conversation about your motivations for running and your progress, we’ll set attainable goals and design a training plan based on your needs. We’ll have an introductory call during which we talk about your running, fitness, and health history, what you hope to get from coaching, what kind of relationship you have or want to have with running, and holistic factors like work and play that will help shape your training. I pay attention to both fitness and life factors because I want running to bring you joy and accomplishment, not be a burden!
